    Problems and Solutions

    Problem:

I’m not sure how to lay out the canopy to be most economic?

    Solution:

We love the challenge of assisting with the site layout in advance of bid work. It gives us the opportunity to ensure the specifications can be built in the most economic fashion with optimized overhangs and spans to minimize the foundation/site work costs. Send us the site info you have and we can help move the rough sketch to the next step.

    Problems and Solutions

    Problem:

Our site has an existing canopy and foundations. Can we re-use the footings for a new canopy?

    Solution:

Some towns will allow the “grandfathering” of existing foundations, but the new canopy must be the same size—width, length, clearance and fascia height—as the existing. First though, be certain the foundation is in adequate condition to accept the new canopy (i.e., the existing bolt pattern, the size of the bolts, and if they’re in working order). Note that a canopy needs ~ 7” of working threaded bolt to be installed correctly and allow for grout to be placed under the baseplate. Please notify us at the time of the quote request that you are interested in re-using foundations.

    Problems and Solutions

    Problem:

Our canopy is leaking. What should we do?

    Solution:

We ask that you provide specifics on where the canopy is leaking and/or pictures so the issue can be resolved expediently. If the canopy is still under the original warranty, the subcontractor will return at no charge. If you have an older canopy or a competitor canopy, a site inspection to evaluate the condition of the canopy and determine next steps is necessary. Depending on location, there is typically an inspection fee.

    Problems and Solutions

    Problem:

Our canopy was damaged. How do we determine cost for the insurance claim and confirm the scope of repair work needed?

    Solution:

We’ll review the photos of the damage and determine if we can provide budgetary pricing to submit for insurance. Upon approval to proceed, we’ll perform a site inspection, do a full evaluation of the existing canopy condition, and determine scope of work materials/installation services required. We typically do charge a fee to cover the inspection costs if the work does not proceed.

    Problems and Solutions

    Problem:

What should I know about canopy maintenance?

    Solution:

Preventative details are key to ensuring the longevity of your canopy. Clean the top of the canopy each year and check that all gutters and drains are clear—just as you would your home. You can also power wash the canopy and check all sealant to see if any areas need to be replaced. Clean the columns, wire brush off any rust, and repaint as needed. You may also want to consider purchasing galvanized steel that carries a 20-year, 5% rust warranty to further minimize your canopy maintenance costs and improve the lifespan of your canopy.

    Problems and Solutions

    Problem:

The signage/lighting no longer works on our canopy who do we contact?

    Solution:

If the signage/lighting is new, first reach out to the electrician to rule out an electrical connection issue. If the electrician is unable to identify the problem, inform the vendor or distributor that you have a signage/lighting issue. Have your purchase order and site location information available to track your specific project. The vendor will require pictures of the issue. Depending on the product, they may dispatch one of their own reps to assess the issue and resolve. Note that most warranties for these products only cover the replacement of the component, not the labor to replace.
