A MANU-SPEC is a manufacturer-specific proprietary product specification using the proprietary method of specifying applicable to project specifications and master guide specifications. This MANU-SPEC specifies portable and mobile buildings, including prefabricated aluminum and steel buildings and shelters, as manufactured by AustinMohawk and Company, Inc. SECTION 13127

Portable & Mobile Buildings
(Prefabricated Structures & Shelters)

1.01 SUMMARY

AustinMohawk and Company, Inc. offers a variety of portable and mobile buildings, including guard booths, cashier and attendant booths, petroleum kiosks, access control buildings, utility buildings, smoking shelters, transit shelters, waiting shelters, equipment shelters, vestibules, and custom fabricated buildings.

1.02 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

A.

Performance Requirements: Provide portable and mobile buildings which have been manufactured, fabricated and installed to withstand loads from (Specify code/standard reference) and to maintain performance criteria stated by manufacturer without defects, damage, or failure.

Specifier Note: Article below includes submittal of relevant data to be furnished by Contractor either before, during, or after construction. Coordinate this article with Architect's and Contractor's duties and responsibilities in Conditions of the Contract and Division 1 Submittal Procedures Section.


1.03 SUBMITTALS

A.

General: Submit listed submittals in accordance with Conditions of the Contract and Division 1 Submittal Procedures Section.

B. Product Data: Submit product data, including manufacturer's SPEC-DATA® product sheets, for specified products.
C. Shop Drawings: Submit shop drawings showing layout, profiles and product components, including anchorage, accessories, finish colors, patterns and textures.
D. Samples: Submit selection and verification samples for finishes, colors and textures.
E. Quality Assurance Submittals: Submit the following:
  1. Certificates: Product certificates signed by manufacturer certifying materials comply with specified performance characteristics and criteria, and physical requirements.
  2.

Manufacturer's Instructions: Manufacturer's installation instructions.

F. Closeout Submittals: Submit the following:
  1. Operation and Maintenance Data: Operation and maintenance data for installed products in accordance with Division 1 Closeout Submittals (Maintenance Data and Operation Data) Section. Include methods for maintaining installed products, and precautions against cleaning materials and methods detrimental to finishes and performance.

1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A.

A. Installer Qualifications: Installer experienced in performing work of this section who has specialized in installation of work similar to that required for this project.

1.06 WARRANTY

A. Project Warranty: Refer to Conditions of the Contract for project warranty provisions.
B. Manufacturer's Warranty: Submit, for Owner's acceptance, manufacturer's standard warranty document executed by authorized company official. Manufacturer's warranty is in addition to, and not a limitation of, other rights Owner may have under Contract Documents.

2.01 PORTABLE AND MOBILE BUILDINGS

2.02 PRODUCT SUBSTITUTIONS

A. Substitutions: No substitutions permitted.

2.03 MANUFACTURED ALUMINUM BUILDINGS

A. General: Pre-assemble building fabricated from low maintenance, lightweight corrosive resistant aluminum (factory fabricated).

  1. Dimensions: (Specified Width) x (Specified Length) and 90" - 93" Nominal outside height. Interior dimension from floor to ceiling shall be 83" (2108.2 mm).
  2. Frame Construction: Provide structural framing of 6063-T6 aluminum alloy extrusions. Members shall have a Quaker Bronze finish. Connections shall be fastened internally to framing systems using mechanical fasteners or MIG welded where necessary.
  3. Base/Floor: Floor structure shall be layered assembly, 2" (50.8 mm) thick, 2 pieces 5/8" plywood laminated together with a .032 mill finish aluminum underside and a finished floor of nonskid aluminum tread plate. Base is mounted to 2" or 4" tube/channel steel base frame (when necessary).
  4. Lower Wall Panel: Exterior shall be .032 Quaker Bronze aluminum, 3" (76.2 mm) insulation and .032 interior aluminum. Overall thickness of panel shall be 3" (76.2 mm).
  5. Ceiling: Interior ceiling shall be foam core panel system providing smooth flat interior, constructed from 24 ga prefinished white steel with expanded polystyrene core.
  6. Roof: Constructed using galvanized 20 ga, G-90 interlocking pan sections. Sections are 3" (76.2 mm) high varying widths able to support minimum of 50 psf (2394 Pa) live load. Roof drains into full-perimeter gutter system.
  7. Windows: Fixed windows shall be single pane 1/8" (3.18 mm) clear tempered safety glass. Sliding windows shall have aluminum frame and 1/8" (3.18mm) clear tempered safety glass, insect screen, and locking device. Glass shall be glazed within wall system extrusions and not fastened to exterior wall. Glass sealed with concealed gasket system.
  8. Door: Sliding door shall be extruded aluminum frame, top hung style using heavy duty ball bearing nylon tire with steel hub. Door shall be supplied with jimmy-proof single cylinder deadlock.
  9. Electrical: Electrical shall be wired according to N.E.C. Standards. Load center shall be a 125 amp, 120/240 volt unit with 4 / 8 open circuits. Wiring shall be within surface mounted EMT conduit lines, and included shall be a GFCI duplex receptacle with tester
  10. Lighting: Lighting shall be a twin fluorescent light with tube covers.
  11. Heat: Heating shall be wall mounted electric with fan forced operation, 1500w/5120 BTU and thermostat in an enamel coated 20 ga steel cabinet.

2.05 ALUMINUM SHELTERS

A. General: Pre-assembled shelter fabricated from low maintenance, lightweight corrosive resistant aluminum (factory fabricated).

  1. Dimensions: (Specified Width) x (Specified Length), 88" (2235.2 mm) exterior height and 83" (2108.2 mm) interior ceiling height.
  2. Frame: 6063-T6 aluminum alloy extrusions with standard QUAKER BRONZE finish. Framing assembled using internally located mechanical fasteners. Exposed fasteners on framing system are not acceptable.
  3. Roof: Constructed using galvanized 20 gauge, G-90 interlocking pan sections. Sections are 3" (76.2 mm) high varying widths able to support minimum of 50 psf (2394 Pa) live load. Roof drains into full perimeter gutter system.
  4. Ceiling: Interior ceiling is a foam core panel system providing smooth flat interior. Constructed from 24 gauge prefinished white steel with expanded polystyrene core, able to support optional lighting or heat panels.
  5. Windows: Fixed windows are single pane 3/16" (4.76 mm) clear tempered safety glass, glazed within wall system extrusions and not fastened to exterior wall. Glass sealed with concealed gasket system.
  6. Lower Wall Section: (Optional) .032 QUAKER BRONZE aluminum on exterior and interior with expanded polystyrene core.
  7. Electrical: OPTIONAL ELECTRICAL ITEMS TO BE INSTALLED BY OTHERS.

PART 2 PRODUCTS (CONT.)

2.06 STEEL BUILDINGS

A. General: Pre-Assembled building of steel construction.

  1. Dimensions: (Specified Width) x (Specified Length) and 96" (2438.4) norminal in height.
  2. Frame: Framing shall be 14 GA (1.78 mm) mechanical tube. Seams shall be MIG welded.
  3. Base/Floor: Building to typically be constructed on a 4" galvanized mechanical tube frame. Floor assembly to be 1" (25.4 mm) thick comprised of galvanized steel under-side, 3/4" plywood and aluminum tread plate finished floor.
  4. Wall Panels: Wallpanels shall be 18 ga exterior, 2" (50.8 mm) or E.P.S. insulation, and a 18 ga inside face. Panels shall be galvanized and shall be MIG welded into place.
  5. Ceiling: Interior ceiling shall be foam core panel system providing smooth flat interior. Constructed from 24 ga prefinished white steel with expanded polystyrene core.
  6. Roof: Constructed using galvanized 20 gauge, G-90 interlocking pan sections. Sections are 3" (76.2 mm) high varying widths able to support minumum of 50 psf (2394 Pa) live load. Roof drains into full perimeter gutter system.
  7. Finish: Exterior surfaces shall be smooth and flat with no visible blemishes. Surfaces shall be painted using an epoxy/urethane prime to paint system designed to withstand salt spray and freze thaw testing.
  8. Windows: Fixed windows shall be 1/8" (3.18 mm) clear tempered safety glass. Sliding and cashier windows shall be 1/8" (3.18 mm) clear tempered safety glass. Window frames shall be anodized aluminum. Moving windows shall be supplied with insect screen and locking device.
  9. Door: Sliding door shall be extruded aluminum frame, top hung style using an overhead track and heavy duty ball bearing nylon tires with steel hub. Door shall be supplied with mortise lock and hook bolt.
  10. Electrical: Electrical shall be wired acording to N.E.C. Standards. Load center shall be a 125 Amp, 120/240 volt unit with 8/16 open circuits. Wiring shall be within surface mounted EMT conduit. (1) GFCI duplex receptacle with tester is used as an outlet.
  11. Lighting shall be a twin fluorescent light with tube covers.
  12. Heat: Heating will be wall mounted electric with fan forced operation. 1500w/5120 BTU and thermostat in an enamel coated 20 ga steel cabinet.

 

2.07 STEEL SHELTERS

B. Shelter: Constructed from high strength structural tubing.

  1. Dimensions: (Specified Width) x (Specified Length) having a 7' 6" (2438.4 mm) interior ceiling height.
  2. Frame: Framing shall be 14 ga (1.78 mm) mechanical steel tube. Entire framing system shall be MIG welded.
  3. Finish: Exterior surfaces shall be smooth and flat with no visible blemishes. Surfaces shall be painted using an epoxy/urethane prime to paint system designed to withstand salt spray and freeze thaw testing.
  4. Roof: Constructed using galvanized 20 gauge, G-90 interlocking pan sections. Sections are 3" (76.2 mm) high varying widths able to support minimum of 50 psf (2394 Pa) live load. Roof drains into full perimeter gutter system.
  5. Ceiling: Interior ceiling shall be foam core panel system providing smooth flat interior. Constructed from 24 gauge prefinished white steel with expanded polystyrene core and able to support optional lighting or heat panels.
  6. Windows: Fixed windows shall be single pane 3/16" (4.76mm) minimum clear tempered safety glass. Glass shall be framed to shelter using clear anodized aluminum framing system, with no exterior exposed fasteners.
  7. Lower Wall Panels: (Optional) Wall panels shall be 18 ga exterior, 3" (76.2mm) of R-12 insulation, and a 18 ga inside face. Panels shall be galvanized and shall be MIG welded into place.
  8. Anchoring: Shelter installation requires concrete pad 6" minimum thickness and 12" minimum larger than shelter in both length and width dimensions. Shelter to be anchored to pad using height adjustable steel base plates and anchored down using 1/2" minimum expansion anchors.

2.08 ALUMINUM & STEEL SHELTERS OPTIONS

A. Shelter Options: Provide shelter as follows:
  1. Color:
a. Aluminum Shelters: Quaker Bronze as a standard. Any custom color is available as an option.
b. Steel Shelters: Soft black as a standard. Any custom color is available as an option.
  2. Glazing: (3/16" (4.76 mm) tempered safety glass) (.1875 & .220 polycarbonate) (tinting gray or bronze).
  3.

Lighting: Twin bulb fluorescent fixtures.

  4. Venting: Switch operated wall fans.
  5. Benches: 6', 8',10' and 15' (1.8, 2.4, 3 and 5 m) pedestal mounted mill Finish Aluminum. Installed directly to concrete pad with expansion anchors.

3.01 MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS

 

A.

Compliance: Comply with manufacturer's product data, including product technical bulletins, product catalog installation instructions, and product carton instructions for installation.

3.02 EXAMINATION


A.

Site Verification of Conditions: Verify substrate conditions (which have been previously installed under other sections) are acceptable for product installation in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

3.03 INSTALLATION


A.

Portable and Mobile Building Installation:

  1. General: Install building structure true to line, level, plumb, rigid, and secure. Level base plates to true plane with full bearing to support structure, set in-place with anchor bolts as recommended by building manufacturer.
  2. Building Anchoring: Install building on concrete pad 4" (101.6 mm) minimum thickness and 12" (304.8 mm) minimum larger than building in both length and width. Anchor building to pad using aluminum boots and factory supplied expansion anchors.
  3. Aluminum Shelter Anchoring: Install shelter on concrete pad 6" (152.4 mm) minimum thickness and 18" (457.2 mm) minimum larger than shelter in both length and width. Anchor shelter to pad using height adjustable aluminum base plates and anchored down using 1/4" (6.35 mm) min. expansion anchors.
  4. Steel Shelter Anchoring: Install shelter on concrete pad 6" (152.4 mm) minimum thickness and 18" (457.2 mm) minimum larger than shelter in both length and width. Anchor shelter to pad using height adjustable steel base plates and anchored down using _" (12.7 mm) min. expansion anchors.

3.04 FIELD QUALITY REQUIREMENTS

Specifier Note: Edit paragraph below. Establish number and duration of periodic site visits with Owner and manufacturer, and specify below. Consult with manufacturer for services required. 3.05 CLEANING

A. Cleaning: Remove temporary coverings and protection of adjacent work areas. Repair or replace damaged installed products. Clean installed products in accordance with manufacturer's instructions prior to owner's acceptance. Remove construction debris from project site and legally dispose of debris.

A. Protection: Protect installed product and finish surfaces from damage during construction.
